The Author-
Shawn Rogers was born and raised in Eagle
River, Alaska. She is a bear enthusiast and
spent several summers helping visitors around
Katmai National Park. She and her husband
have a home in Anchorage, Alaska where
Shawn shares her love of stories and art with
their three little cubs.
The Artwork-
The illustrations in this book really stand out.
Flowers, trees, and bears all come to life with the
help of construction paper and scissors. Every
detail was carefully cut out by hand and then
mounted on watercolored backgrounds using
tweezers, toothpicks, and glue. The artwork has
a 3D look to it that seems to "pop" off the page.
